Everything you need to know about our courier and logistics services — from pricing and booking to tracking, vehicle types, and specialist deliveries.
We provide nationwide courier and logistics services across the entire United Kingdom, including England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our fleet is strategically positioned to cover all major cities — London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Belfast, Bristol, Sheffield, Liverpool, and Newcastle — as well as smaller towns, rural areas, and industrial estates. Whether you need a same day delivery from London to Manchester or a regular contract run in the Scottish Highlands, we have the coverage to get it done.
Same day delivery is a courier service where your item is collected and delivered on the same day — unlike standard parcel services which may take 1–3 working days. With RGP TRANS LTD, we collect your item within 60 minutes of booking and transport it directly to the destination using a dedicated vehicle. There are no sorting depots, no network hubs, and no handoffs between drivers. Your consignment is tracked in real time via GPS, and you receive photographic proof of delivery upon completion. This service is ideal for urgent documents, medical samples, spare parts, legal paperwork, and time-sensitive goods.
We aim to have a vehicle at your door within 60 minutes of booking for our same day courier service. For time critical deliveries, we allocate a dedicated vehicle immediately and prioritise dispatch to ensure the fastest possible collection. Once collected, your consignment travels directly to its destination with no intermediate stops, sorting hubs, or transfers — just a single driver handling your delivery from door to door.
Delivery time depends primarily on distance. Local deliveries within the same city or town are typically completed within 1–2 hours from collection. Regional deliveries (e.g., London to Birmingham or Manchester to Leeds) generally take 2–4 hours. Long-distance national deliveries (e.g., London to Glasgow or Cardiff to Edinburgh) typically take 5–8 hours driving time. Because we use dedicated direct vehicles with no intermediate stops, our transit times are significantly faster than standard parcel networks. We provide an estimated delivery window when you book, and you can track progress in real time.
Same day courier costs depend on several factors: the distance between collection and delivery, the size and weight of the consignment, the vehicle type required (small van, large van, or HGV), and any special handling requirements. As a guide, local same day deliveries within a city typically start from £25–£40, while long-distance national deliveries vary based on mileage and urgency. Every quote is tailored to your specific job — we don't use one-size-fits-all pricing. For an accurate price, request a free no-obligation quote via our online form or call us directly.
Our pricing is based on several factors: the distance between collection and delivery postcodes, the size and weight of the consignment, the vehicle type required, the urgency level (standard same day vs time critical), and any special handling needs such as 2-man crew or ADR hazardous goods transport. Unlike parcel networks that charge by weight brackets, we provide bespoke quotes that reflect the actual job requirements. For contract runs, we offer fixed-rate pricing agreed in advance. Every quote is free and without obligation.
Booking is simple. You can request a quote online by filling out our quote form with your collection and delivery postcodes, a description of the goods, and any special requirements. Alternatively, call us on 0800 161 3060 or 07477 955 339 to speak directly with our dispatch team. We'll confirm availability, provide a price, and allocate a driver — often within minutes. We also accept bookings via email at info@rgptrans.uk for regular or scheduled work.
Our fleet ranges from small vans (ideal for documents, small parcels, and medical samples) to large vans, Luton vans with tail lifts, 7.5-tonne lorries, 18-tonne rigid trucks, and HGVs for full loads. This gives us the flexibility to match the right vehicle to your consignment — whether it's a single envelope or a pallet of heavy goods. For 2-man crew work, we use larger vehicles equipped with straps, blankets, trolleys, and protective coverings.
We can handle almost anything — from a single A4 envelope weighing a few grams, up to palletised goods and full lorry loads. Our small vans carry approximately 600–800 kg with a load space of around 2.4m x 1.4m x 1.3m. Large vans and Luton vans accommodate up to 1,200 kg with 4m+ load lengths. For heavier loads, our 7.5-tonne and 18-tonne lorries carry several tonnes. For particularly heavy, oversized, or awkward items, our 2-man crew service adds the extra handling capability needed. Just describe what you need to move when requesting a quote and we'll match the right vehicle.
Yes. Our 2-man crew service provides two trained professionals to handle heavy, bulky, oversized, or high-value items that require extra care. Typical deliveries include sofas, beds, wardrobes, fridges, washing machines, gym equipment, office furniture, large-format printers, and exhibition stands. Each crew member is trained in manual handling and customer service. They arrive with straps, blankets, and trolleys — and will place your items in the room of your choice. Nationwide coverage is available.
Yes, absolutely. Our 2-man crew service is designed specifically for furniture, white goods, and large or heavy items. We regularly deliver sofas, beds, wardrobes, dining tables, fridges, washing machines, American-style fridge freezers, gym equipment, office desks, filing cabinets, and large-format printers. The crew handles all the heavy lifting — from collection through to placement in the room of your choice at the destination. For single-person deliverable large items (such as a dismantled flat-pack wardrobe or a single mattress), our standard large van service may also be suitable.
Yes, we are fully ADR-compliant and certified to transport hazardous goods across the UK. Our specialist drivers hold current ADR training certificates and our vehicles are equipped with the required safety equipment and signage. We handle ADR classes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9 — covering flammable liquids, corrosive substances, toxic materials, compressed gases, and environmentally hazardous goods. Please note we do not carry Class 1 (Explosives) or Class 7 (Radioactive materials). Full dangerous goods documentation including ADR consignment notes is provided with every shipment.
Time critical delivery is our most urgent service — designed for shipments where every second counts and failure is not an option. We allocate a dedicated vehicle exclusively to your consignment, plan the fastest direct route, and dispatch immediately. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Common use cases include production-critical machine parts to prevent factory downtime, emergency medical supplies, legal documents with court deadlines, aircraft parts (AOG), broadcast equipment for live events, and IT hardware for data centre outages.
Multidrop delivery combines multiple drop-off points into a single optimised journey, significantly reducing cost compared to booking individual deliveries. We use route-planning software to calculate the most efficient sequence of stops, minimising mileage and fuel while maximising on-time delivery rates. Each consignment is tracked individually and electronic proof of delivery is captured at every stop. This service is ideal for wholesalers, retailers distributing stock to multiple stores, print companies delivering to various locations, and any business with regular multi-stop requirements. There's no minimum volume — we handle anything from 3 drops to 30.
Absolutely. Our contract runs service provides a dedicated vehicle and driver assigned to your regular schedule — whether that's daily, weekly, or monthly. You get the consistency of an in-house fleet without the overhead costs, including a familiar driver who knows your routes and customers. We offer competitive fixed-rate pricing for full budget certainty, priority communication, and the flexibility to scale up or down as your needs change. Industries that commonly use this service include manufacturing, retail, automotive, pharmaceutical, and education.
All our vehicles are equipped with real-time GPS tracking. Once your consignment is collected, you can track its progress live and receive automated status updates throughout the journey. Upon delivery, we provide electronic proof of delivery (ePOD) which includes a time-stamped confirmation, photographic evidence of the delivered goods at the destination, and a digital signature from the recipient. This gives you complete peace of mind and a verifiable record for your own records.
Yes, we operate 7 days a week including Saturdays, Sundays, and all bank holidays. Our same day, time critical, and urgent delivery services are available 24/7, 365 days a year. For contract runs and standard services, weekend delivery can be arranged with advance notice. If you need a Saturday or Sunday collection or delivery, simply mention this when requesting your quote and we'll confirm availability.
Yes. RGP TRANS LTD carries comprehensive goods-in-transit insurance as standard on all deliveries. Our standard cover provides protection against loss or damage while your consignment is in our care. For higher-value items, we can arrange additional insurance upon request. If you have specific insurance requirements or are shipping high-value goods, please mention this when booking so we can ensure appropriate cover is in place.
We are unable to carry Class 1 explosives (including fireworks and ammunition) or Class 7 radioactive materials. Beyond hazardous goods restrictions, we do not transport illegal substances, live animals (without prior arrangement), perishable food requiring temperature-controlled cold chain (unless specifically agreed), or items prohibited by UK law. If you're unsure whether your consignment can be carried, please contact us before booking — our team will advise on the best approach.
Standard parcel delivery services (like Royal Mail, DPD, or Evri) collect your item, sort it at a central hub, and transfer it through a network — often involving multiple vehicles and drivers before it reaches the recipient. This takes 1–3 working days on average. A courier service like RGP TRANS LTD provides a dedicated vehicle and driver who collects your item and drives it directly to the destination with no sorting, no transfers, and no delays. The key advantages of courier delivery include: same day collection and delivery, real-time GPS tracking, a single point of contact, no risk of loss in sorting networks, and proof of delivery with a photo and signature. For urgent, valuable, or fragile items, a courier is the safer and faster choice.
We accept payment via bank transfer (BACS), online payments, and all major debit and credit cards. Please note we do not accept cash payments. For every transaction we issue a full VAT invoice, which can be provided in PDF format for your records and accounting purposes. Invoices include a breakdown of services provided, VAT registration number, and payment terms. For contract customers, we can set up monthly invoicing with agreed payment terms.
